Fibromyalgia is a “difficult‐to‐see” chronic pain disorder of unknown etiology. Some factors like negative events, stressful environments, or physical/emotional traumas may act as predisposing conditions.

Fibromyalgia belongs to rheumatic diseases. Until very recently there was a disbelief about its existence. It presents with widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, insomnia, and stiffness. Fibromyalgia patients tend to have a negative self-image, low self-esteem and self-efficacy. It might have a negative impact on cognitive performance, personal relationships (sexuality and parenting), work, and activities of daily life.
