PANIC ATTACKS

When we feel anxious, we may experience physical symptoms such as dizziness and chest pain. If the anxiety is too intense it might trigger a panic attack.

State of a panic attack

During an episode of a panic attack you might feel overwhelmed with fear and experience physical symptoms, such as a fast heartbeat, sweat, and inability to breath. The symptoms come quickly and may appear out of nowhere. The experience is very frightening.

After the episode you might feel tired and you might avoid situations that might trigger another panic attack, such as gathering in crowds. This situation is called agoraphobia and sometimes develops after you have a panic attack in an effort to avoid another attack. This becomes a never ending cycle that does not allow a functional life. If panic attacks are regular then the condition is called panic disorder.
